Biography:
Growing up in Michigan I spent my youth playing football, soccer, hockey, and baseball every year. During the summers I played for travel baseball that reached the state playoffs three years in a row. During the winter months skiing and snowboarding were my passions. I was named captain of the schools ski team during my senior year.
After high school I spent the next four years in the United States Marine Corps Infantry as a Machine Gunner / Team Leader. I was given the position as platoon leader for the remedial physical training platoon. A platoon designed to bring Marines who were unsatisfactory in their physical fitness back into Marine Corps shape.
After leaving the Marines I decided to begin my college career and initially majored in Nutrition and Dietetics at Western Carolina University. After two years I made the decision to switch my major to Kinesiology / Exercise Science and attend the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Before moving to Charlotte my training consisted of helping athletes take the competitive edge over their opponents. Athletes between the ages of 8 – 18 were trained to improve their speed, agility, and strength in either group classes or one on one training. Some accomplishments are an eleven year old BMX racer was recently ranked #1 nationally in his age group, and seeing several of my high school athletes being recruited by colleges such as North Carolina State University, Western Carolina University, Furman University, and Wingate University.
I stay physically active by participating in sports, lifting weights at the gym, and taking my dog on a run. Nutrition is a very important factor in my diet. Eating healthy and exercising are the two main keys to living life to the fullest.
